“Models and architectures for emergency management”
19 – 20 February 2015 – Consorzio Milano Ricerche
Emergencies, due to man made or natural disasters and terrorism, feature prominently among the threats our society is confronted with. To avoid an incident and to mitigate its potential consequences requires developing and deploying new solutions, which exploit the recent advances in terms of technological platforms and problem solving strategies.
This workshop is largely based on the results obtained in a national (Italian) and European research projects, in particular the FP7 PROACTIVE (PRedictive reasOning and multi-source fusion empowering AntiCipation of attacks and Terrorist actions In Urban EnVironmEnts) and INSYEME (Integrated Systems for Emergencies) projects. The PROACTIVE framework incorporates advanced reasoning techniques in order to intelligently process and derive high-level semantics from a multitude of source streams. The workshop will also focus on the new collective intelligence approach for supporting security and resilience, which involves in the same loop citizens and law enforcement officers, extending the sensing capabilities of the system through “human sensors” and two-way communications with citizens. The workshop is proposed to bring together researchers to exchange the state-of-art research results towards emergency management. It will concentrate on both theoretical aspects and practical research security issues.
The aim of the workshop is to promote research and reflect the most recent advances of models and architectures for emergency management, with emphasis on the following topics of interest, but certainly not limited to:
- Urban security and large-scale “networked-data“
- Resilience and networked infrastructures
- Users awareness and behavior analysis
- Computational models to analyze citizens generated contents and filter reliable security alerts.
- Advanced video systems, automatic monitoring
- Image and Video understanding, pattern recognition for scene and person identification
- Alarm monitoring, command and control systems
- Threats identification and monitoring
- Emergency operations and management
- System engineering and modelling
- Data privacy and security issues
